Google AdWords Certification Link not Working

Wow - is it monday all over again? I was just reading through my morning email and browsing through my feeds and came across an article over at SERoundtable about the AdWords Certified Logo “link” not showing verification info anymore, it goes to the AdWords login page.

I JUST sent a potential client to this link yesterday - smooth move (ARgh!)

I sent an email to AdWords Help, lets see what happens.

SEM R&D in a mid-size company

So the company I work for has a small R&D team that has been charged with keeping the programs we offer and participate in on the edge of what SEM companies can do.  Because we serve a small niche of the overall market we meet another challenge when developing programs - how does this idea apply to tourism?

My musing brings me back to the same point over and over again - why is it so HARD to get things rolling?  Is it because we are but one department in a company that also features design, analytics, programming, and hosting departments?  Is it because we’re not bringing our ideas to the right person? Do we not PRESENT our ideas to the right people in the right way?  What can I do to make it easier to make the decision to move forward on a project?

Generally when we present an idea, we think it through, get input from other departments if it’s necessary and put our thoughts down on paper - generally a document that contains a set of bullet points that show the pros of the plan, along with a flow chart or map that shows the steps involved to implement and our estimated time/value to the company……what am I missing?

Does anyone out there have any ideas on how to present a new concept/program to the brass in a way that is sure to prompt action?  What do you do to make people see the importance of moving NOW, not 6-months from now?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

In Denver this Weekend

I just drove 3 hours over 2 mountain passes (luckily in good weather) to my parent’s house north of Denver. The traffic was insane - tell me again why we live in the mountains?? It sure isnt to “get away from it all…” “It all” is still here!

My daughter (who is 10 and has requested I call her “hipchick” on this blog) is taking a test tomorrow morning for smart kids. Apparently this is the 4th grader equivalent to the SAT….she’s excited - scares the crap out of me. She gets the math smarts from her dad……common sense from me :)
Butterfly

Tomorrow after the test I think we’ll visit the butterfly pavillion and then go shopping at a REAL mall - we dont have those in Glenwood - but we did get a Target…(that’s a whole other post.)

I’ll let you all know how the pavillion was - in the mean time -

Jill Whalen’s “12 Signs your Wife - or Mom- Is an SEO”

This is one of the funniest things I’ve read in a long time - it’s almost as if Jill had a hidden camera in my house - and it’s the inspiration for this blog - so Thanks Jill!

My personal favorite is #1: “Dinner is burned because she’s been running back and forth between the computer and the stove, but got wrapped up in a very “important” forum post about cloaking.”

Mr. Carrie’s favorite was #9: “She spends more time in bed with her laptop than in bed with you.”

“Online Reputation Management for Dummies”

Jennifer Laycock at SearchEngineGuide had a really funny post today about a company that offered “Reputation Management” services if you were willing to “pay them” but not “hold them accountable” - because they honestly cant really do anything about what they find - but go ahead and pay them to tell you that….sheesh.

Check out Jennifer’s post over at Search Engine Guide on “When your Online Reputation Management Company needs Online Reputation Management”

Welcome!

Just a little welcome post - This is my first personal blog and I hope to add something daily - but we all know what happens to the “best laid plans.”

I’m working for an Internet Marketing company in the mountains of Colorado - I honestly love my job and cant believe how fortunate I am - the only thing better would be looking out my window at the ocean as I type this - but that was one of those best laid plans…..someday I’ll be there!

Please share your comments with me - I love feedback and information - hopefully you’ll find something useful here - if not maybe you’ll find something FUN!

Thanks for stopping by!
